Exposure Models
Monitoring Occupational and Environmental Exposure
A number of occupational and environmental exposure and fate models for ENMs are offered through the NanoSolveIT platform with friendly graphical user interfaces where users can define and simulate various exposure scenarios.
Available Services
Multi-box aerosol occupational exposure model
Μulti-box aerosol application is based on the aerosol dynamics particle population balance equation model and is used for estimating nanomaterials’ concentration evolution over time in indoor environments e.g. an office room. The application supports multiple types of nanomaterials such as Black toner, TiO2 and TiO2 with AgX and user defined distributions – with the latter covering a broad range of nanomaterials.
NanoFASE WSO Environmental exposure model
Predictions for the environmental distribution, concentration and form (speciation) of nanomaterials integrated with biouptake models that allow allow early assessment of potential environmental and human exposure and risks, to facilitate safe product design and to include these aspects in nano regulation.
Simple Box4Nano (beta version)
SimpleBox4nano simulates the environmental fate of chemicals as fluxes (mass flows) between a series of well-mixed boxes of air, water, sediment and soil on regional, continental and global spatial scales. The tool predicts background concentrations of nanomaterials in air, water, sediment and soil.
